safety is non-negotiable
1.Treat every weapon as if it were loaded
2. Never point a weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot
3. Keep your finger straight and high up ON the slide/frame until you intend to fire
4. Know your target, foreground, and background
5. Keep your trigger/trigger-guard free from obstructions (i.e. holstering, running with slung rifle)
what to expect
The Apocalypse is as real as it’s going to get. 1.5 miles of running and gunning, bounding past each other, shooting, moving, communicating. That was the last go around. 2024 it will be roughly 2 - 2.5 miles long. Every scenario / stage is based on real life engagements we have come across downrange.
This year you will be given a radio to carry to check in when you reach phase lines. Your check in times will be recorded. For your overall time/score.
The MAJORITY of the time, ammo management will be on you.
Range Cadre will down-load shooters as necessary throughout the course fire. “Strip and Rip! Go Condition 3!” For instance, if you’re climbing over a wall where your rifle would naturally flag your partner or spectators. If you don’t know what condition 3 is… it simply means you have a magazine inserted in your weapon system, bolt forward, on an EMPTY chamber, with the weapon on safe.
“Strip and Rip” will be done and verified by no less than 2 Cadre. The shooter (you) will have to count out loud “one cadre then two cadre” so the verifying cadre get a double check that you are good to go. Then you will reinsert that mag into your rifle on an empty chamber.
Weapons must be on Safe between each engagement / stage of fire.
Flagging (pointing a weapon at) anyone is an immediate disqualification.
Flagging any area that is not a designated target area will result in immediate disqualification.
At no time will any Firearm be loaded in the staging area. We will have an area for you all to prep and check gear. The Friday before the competition will be your time to check zero.
There will be other shooters there using the range that are NOT part of the competition. Keep that in mind.
Shooters are responsible for their gear before and after the competition (we suggest a kit bag/case with lock). We will have a staging area for competitors.
The parking areas will be just inside the front gate with another area being .5 miles down the road inside the front gate.
Proper Eye & Ear protection must be worn. For one of the stages we WILL have ear pro you must wear so we can relay firing solutions to you on the fly.
